CCAR-F Claude Code Configuration & Workflows EASY
PRODUCTION SCENARIO
Your repository already maintains a detailed AGENTS.md for two other coding agents. Claude Code sessions in the repo ignore those conventions, and nobody wants to maintain two copies of the same instructions.

How should the team make Claude Code follow those conventions?

Answer: Create a CLAUDE.md that imports the file with @AGENTS.md, adding Claude-specific notes below it

Claude Code reads CLAUDE.md and not AGENTS.md, so one source survives by creating a CLAUDE.md that imports the existing file, with any Claude-specific instructions appended below the import. A symlink works when nothing Claude-specific is needed, and the claudeMd settings key takes effect only in managed settings.
