Grounding connects model output to verifiable sources and, in Google's words, provides auditability by returning grounding support, the links to the sources used. A lower temperature makes answers repeatable but still unattributed, a longer context window gets the documents in front of the model without recording which one an answer came from, and fine-tuning folds the library into the model's weights, which is the opposite of traceable.
