PRODUCTION SCENARIO
An operations team uses a model to work out whether a shipment breaches a customer's service agreement, with the full agreement text already in the prompt. The answers are often right but sometimes skip a condition, and nobody can see how the model reached them.
Which prompting technique should they try?

Answer: Chain-of-thought prompting, asking the model to show its reasoning steps
Chain-of-thought prompting tells the model to explain its reasoning step by step, which both improves reasoning on a multi-condition check and makes the working visible for review. ReAct pairs reasoning with tool calls, and the agreement text is already in the prompt so there is nothing to call. Role prompting sets voice and stance rather than reasoning, and zero-shot is the bare form the team is already using.
